Overview

The Site is located approximately 2km north-west of New Row, on the road to Abermagwr. The grid reference for the centre of the site is SN SN716 741. The spoil tips of the Wemyss mine site lie to the north and south of the Cwmnewydion Road. The Lower Mill Stream is culverted under the road and flows south to its confluence with the Nant Cwmnewydion. The Lower Mill Stream is eroding the tips on the south side of the road, particularly where it exits the culvert under the road and hits the side of the tip with high velocity.
