Overview
The Lisbon Recognition Convention 1997 (officially the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region, which is an international convention of the Council of Europe elaborated together with UNESCO) requires all member states to maintain a ‘National Information Centre’ regarding academic qualifications. The UK signed the Lisbon Convention in November 1997. The UK Government contracts with an external supplier to deliver the National Academic Recognition Information Centre service (UK NARIC) or European Network of Information Centres (ENIC)
