Overview

The work being completed is the connection of the building to the local heat network, this has to be completed by the heat network operator (in this case Gateshead Energy Company) because the local network is council owned. This makes a competitive tender exercise impossible. The network that they control is being extended past our premises and an offer was made to supply heat to our building. This award can only be made to the heat network operator, it is an impossibility to test the market for the work or heat provision.
