Overview

The Environment Agency operates a large number of monitoring sites in England. It operates six telemetry systems based on old regional boundaries. The management of these systems is via a national service consisting of three telemetry hubs each supporting two systems. The management and maintenance of field equipment is carried out in fourteen area based teams. The Environment Agency is in the process of adopting the use of DNP3, WITs DNP3 protocols and IP packet switched data communications to field telemetry outstations.
