Overview
The objective of this research is to build on the outcomes of the rapid evidence review into existing research on the potential effect of new in-vehicle technologies on cognitive load and potential driver distraction. The next stage is to carry out more detailed research into identifying possible policy interventions that could be deployed as these technologies become more prevalent and their estimated efficacy. This research will be used in the Department's consideration of whether new best practice guidance and potential legislative change may be necessary to ensure that such technologies are as safe and effective as possible.
