Overview

The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority (The CA) was created in January 2024 and elected its first Mayor in May 2024. Implementation of the devolution deal is now underway, and we are seeking to bring external support into the Combined Authority to develop and accelerate our housing ambitions, pending recruitment of key posts. Linked to this was an announcement from government for combined authorities to produce Local Growth Plans (long term plans that identify growth sectors and put in place the programmes and infrastructure they need to thrive) and proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework; both of which put greater emphasis on increasing housing numbers.
