Overview

Dorset Council is looking for a solution to house their stray dogs. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 Section 149, seizure of stray dogs the Council has a duty to seize stray dogs and house them for 7 clear days, and then if not claimed find them suitable homes. Dorset Council will as of the 01 April 2024 will not have any facilities to house dogs in kennels for the 7-day period. Therefore Dorset Council is asking if there is are any business/kennels which can offer a service to care for these dogs for this period. This could be a for short-term or a more permanent measure.
