Overview

Phase 3 of the project 'Nano-Structured Steels to Extend Operational Performance for Nuclear Reactors' will serve as a direct continuation to the previous Phases of the project and will principally investigate the potential viability of the experimental steel alloys for use as structural materials in nuclear reactors that could operate at higher temperatures and/or in different reactor designs. This is planned by investigating the microstructures and testing mechanical properties of the alloys to provide indicative information for whether the material is likely suitable as a high temperature structural material in a nuclear environment.
