There is a demand from Sellafield Limited to improve inspection of Special Nuclear Material (SNM) packages and store infrastructure to ensure continued safe and secure storage. SL have issued two requests for quotation (RFQ) to produce feasibility studies to examine / inspect SNM packages in two arrangements, ex-situ, and in-situ. For each arrangement an optioneering exercise would be performed to identify potential inspection system solutions and a down-selection to a preferred technology option.
