Overview

The National Infrastructure Commission is set up to provide strategic advice to the government on the UK's long term infrastructure needs. The Commissions remit covers economic infrastructure within the UK, which includes the electricity system. As part of the National Infrastructure Assessment, published in 2018, the Commission made recommendations concerning the UK future electricity system. A central focus of these recommendations was that the UK government should ensure that the electricity system is running on at least fifty per cent renewable generation by 2030.
