There is a proposed development that includes the Wakefield Eastern Relief Road (WERR) between Doncaster Road and Aberford Road that will reduce major congestion on one of the City's main arterial roads and through the City Centre. This will also open up development land. Construction will be across land held by several parties, who have formed a consortium to manage opening up the development land, although construction of the majority of the road is being led by Wakefield Council on behalf of the consortium.
