Pre-employment screening checks

The GMC carries out robust pre-employment checks before a new staff member or associate can start at the GMC. As part of these pre-employment checks, we carry out basic criminal background checks for all staff and associates on appointment and standard criminal background checks for lawyers and chartered or certified accounts. Staff members and associates are required to complete a further basic or standard criminal background check once every four years.
