Overview

Fishing is the most dangerous industry in the UK. Fatalities are 100 times higher than in the general workforce and 10 times higher than the next most dangerous industry, agriculture. In the last 10 years, 43% of these fatalities were person overboard -falls off a vessel into the water. The MCA wishes to commission research to better understand the determinants of the behaviour of wearing a PFD and look to develop interventions to increase its prevalence.
