The GMC needs an Occupational Health Provider to provide guidance and support to the HR team and line managers with the overall aims of: - Reducing employee sickness absence - Preventing and removing health risks arising in the workplace - ensuring the GMC meets its statutory responsibilities - and helping to maintain a healthy workforce. Referrals to occupational health are currently made by HR consultants on behalf of line managers. In the last 12 months there were 130 referrals made, of which 45% relate to mental ill health. For the last year, sickness absence is 3.1%, that is 7.3 days per person per year.
