The NBN is a government initiative, supported by Cabinet Office, brought about by the re-evaluation of the biosecurity risk landscape, which considers the evolving priorities since COVID-19 and the rapid advances in science and technology. Whilst investment in biosecurity, science and technology remains high across government departments this challenge is in building a connected network around these programmes that enables the fast detection of threats in our environment as and when they occur.
