The council has a statutory obligation to commission specialist sexual health services including HIV prevention, sexual health promotion and contraception services for our citizens. Sexual health is an important area of public health. Most of the adult population are sexually active, including many young people, so access to high quality, safe and effective sexual health services improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities, for example by the prevention and management of sexually transmitted infections. The Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) service is part of the mandated Public Health duties and therefore CYC has an obligation to ensure this service…
