Overview

The Dangerous Goods Unit is responsible for developing domestic policy and shaping international agreements which form the basis of our legislation. The DGUs overriding policy stance is to minimise the safety risks to people, property and the environment, whilst ensuring any requirements of dangerous good transport remain proportionate and are implemented in a way that helps facilitate trade and economic growth. To do this, the DGU has a longstanding practice of consulting and working with technical experts from industry.
