Overview

With guidelines set out in the NHS Five Year Forward View, the overarching objective is to make the NHS paperless by 2020. This vision is encompassed in the National Information Board's Personalised Health and Care 2020 Framework. The national vision is of a fully interoperable Electronic Health Record, such that patients' records are largely paperless. Where Patients will have access to these records, be able to "write" into them whilst retaining the right to opt out of their record being shared electronically.
