The Digital Transformation of Screening Programme is one of the 10 major transformation pieces of work being taken forward following the NHSX 2019 major review of NHS tech spending. These reviews found numerous issues affecting the delivery of screening in England, including the fact that the IT systems used by screening programmes are old, complex and are no longer fit for purpose. These systems result in inefficiencies and errors being made and are increasingly liable to fail.
