Overview

The existing insulated cladding on two operational facilities on the Dounreay site has fallen into a state of disrepair. 'Patch' repairs will not be sufficient to see the buildings forward over their remaining operational life. A design has been produced that entails fixing single skin profiled steel cladding over much of the existing façade and roof of the facilities (approximately 2,600m2 in total). This will be attached using a proprietary rail and bracket system fixed onto the surface of the existing cladding. The rail and bracket system will itself be fixed back onto existing cladding rails and purlins. The system shall be made weather tight through the use of purpose made flashings.…
