The 3 gas cremators at Worcester City Council’s (the “Council”) Astwood Crematorium were installed in 1997. Due to their operational age the Council is looking to procure 2 no. electric cremators to replace them to increase operational resilience and secure environmental compliance with space for a 3rd cremator if possible for future proofing service provision. The Council is looking to procure the electric cremator contractor by September 2024 at RIBA Stage 3 so the contractor can form part of the Council’s wider design team appointed to design and develop a remodelled building and cremator replacement works.
