Background The property, 55 Kew Green, is a Grade II listed building. Originally dating from the late 17th century, the house was enlarged in 1855. Known as Herbarium House, the property has a long association with Kew having housed Keepers of the gardens since its construction. However, in the last 30 years, with fewer staff living on site, the building has become unoccupied and fallen into disrepair. The building is now in a poor state of repair and requires a complete overhaul to return it to a sound, stable condition.
