ORE Catapult's 1MW Drive Train Facility has been designed to perform accelerated lifetime testing of integrated turbine nacelle systems and the individual drive train components of prototype tidal power generation devices up to 1MW. It has been designed to simulate the environmental (rotational) loads likely to be experienced by a tidal device offshore, thereby validating new technologies to reduce the financial risk and improve reliability for developers before full demonstration and deployment at sea.
