The Environment Agency is responsible for the management of The National Tide Gauge Network on behalf of the UK Coastal Flood Forecasting service. The network consists of c.135 sensors situated at 42 strategically important sites around the UK coastline. These gauges have a variety of uses within real time operational coastal flood forecasting, flood risk management mapping and planning, and sea level studies.
