Selsey Beacon Replacement

Chichester District Council is a Coast Protection Authority and manages numerous assets associated with managing flood and erosion risk. To manage the risk to navigation there is a need to mark the seaward end of some of these assets. This has been done with 37 fixed marker beacons, constructed using bullhead rail and attached (bolted) to timber groynes. A number of these marker beacons have or are reaching the end of their serviceable life with either the rail or timber no longer suitable for re-fixing.
