-Purpose The Coal Authority operates over 70 mine water treatment schemes across the UK; these schemes primarily treat coal mine waters with a growing number of metal mine treatment schemes. In addition the Coal Authority has an active R&D department which undertakes a variety of UK wide mine water treatment trials. The Coal Authority R&D team focus on laboratory and field scale trials on both metal and coal mine waters with the aim of developing novel treatment technologies and improving existing treatment technologies on our schemes.
