The NPL requirement is for a resin injection machine for use in characterisation of the composite manufacturing process by RTM. The injection machine will be used to carry out infusions with a closed-mould RTM tool at the laboratory scale, however there is potential for expansion of this research into other processes such as those with open-mould tools, therefore it is desirable that the instrument be compatible with different resins and tools for use in the response to future research challenges.
