The Waste Regulation and Crime Team in Defra are responsible for ensuring that: - the waste industry has an effective and enabling regulatory framework in which to operate - the regulators have the powers and enforcement tools to ensure regulatory compliance in the waste industry, and address poor performance and waste crime.
