The genetics core team wishes to trial a novel bench-top sequencing platform which can scan low diversity libraries with high quality (Q30>90%; Q40>90%), a low PhiX spike, providing 2B reads per run at low cost of purchase and low cost per run (<5 GBP/Gb) and the ability to operate on small and large scale reading projects. On the basis of market analysis it is believed competition is absent for technical reasons and the awarded supplier may offer the only current ‘out of the box’ single device which fulfils this specification within the project budget.
