The proposed tool will replace the need for initial feasibility studies. It will increase the uptake of heat pumps by reducing the cost and risk burden to individual NHS organisations. Currently, individual feasibility studies are carried out at site level to estimate both the heat demand and the availability of the ground source heat. This gives an estimated cost by specifying the depth and area of groundworks, as well as the size of heat exchangers required.
