NIAS is totally dependent on the Computer Aided Dispatch systems to run the ambulance services for Emergency and Patient Care services in Northern Ireland. These services are to be replaced and a procurement exercise is under way but has been significantly impacted and delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The current contract with the incumbent supplier expires on 31 December 2021 and it is estimated the new contract will not be awarded and operational until September 2022.
