In 2015 the government announced that they will be investing GBP 85 000 000 a year for 4 years in BBC World Service launching 11 new services in the following languages: Afaan Oromo, Amharic, Gujarati, Igbo, Korean, Marathi, Pidgin, Punjabi, Telugu, Tigrinya, and Yoruba. This means the BBC World Service will be available in40 (currently 29) languages including English.
