Highways England is looking to set up a contract for provision of a structural assessment tool starting with a Proof of Concept. The tool will contribute to key performance indicators in safety, efficiency and user satisfaction, with minor effects on smooth traffic flow and network condition. A staged approach starting with service design agreed with the HE Portfolio Office and a proof of concept will help ensure that the safety assessment of abnormal loads travelling over structures is carried out in an SES approved, consistent way, reducing risk and increasing transparency.
